WaveZero Announces Form/Met® Fence & Lid EMI Shield
Removable, Durable Lid Provides Repeatable Access to Underlying Components
June 24, 2008, Sunnyvale, CA — WaveZero, a leader in EMI/RFI/ESD shielding solutions announced today the release of its Form/Met® Fence & Lid EMI Shield, which combines the benefits of traditional EMI shielding with a snap-on, snap-off lid for easier access to underlying components for rework or repair.
The Form/Met® Fence & Lid EMI Shield is comprised of a metal fence which can be soldered to a printed circuit board and a plastic lid which is vacuum metalized to provide effective EMI shielding. The vacuum metalized lid easily snaps on and off of the fence, so underlying components can be accessed without damaging the shield and sacrificing EMI performance. The vacuum deposition process, unlike metallic paints, allows for metallic shielding ½microns to 6 microns thick that does not chip or flake when the lid is lifted from the fence.
The Form/Met® Fence & Lid EMI Shield can be customized to the PCB and component layout that matches the customers EMI shielding needs. The Form/Met® Fence & Lid EMI Shield's low cost and light weight make it an excellent replacement for heavier, more expensive cans that are commonly used, yet don't provide access to underlying components without damaging the can and compromising its shielding effectiveness.
The Form/Met® Fence & Lid EMI Shield is also environmentally friendly and is RoHS and WEEE compliant. It's IEC Standard 60601-1 compliance assures that Form/Met® Fence & Lid EMI Shield meets both the international EMC standard for medical devices as well as the FDA requirements and government environmental regulations.
