These EMI/RFI shielding materials are custom created by thermoforming and die cutting a lightweight plastic substrate and then metalizing the substrate with a pure metal or combinations of layers to make the shield conductive. You can use Form/Met shields at enclosure level, board/system level, or component level, making it the most flexible electromagnetic shielding solution available, ideal for complex board/component layouts or for situations where light weight is extremely important. Although custom-created for your application, turnaround times are short. The innovative Form/Met approach is the most environmentally friendly solution available, utilizing an adhesive process instead of solder for board attachment, and more easily recyclable than conduction gaskets, conductive paint, soldered metal cans, or conductive plastics.

The Form/Met® Fence & Lid EMI shield combines the advantages of a traditional metal fence which is soldered to the printed circuit board through standard reflow or SMT assembly methods with a metalized plastic shield that provides a seamless reusable "snap-on, snap-off" lid. The removable lid provides repeatable access to underlying components without sacrificing EMI performance. The lid's flexibility ensures that it is easy to remove and replace even where warping has occurred.

Flow/Met is a unique shielding product that allows airflow through its structure while providing EMI/RFI shielding, and is especially useful for EMC compliance when addressing cooling airflow through chassis fan vents. Flow/Met is created using a polymer based reticulated foam that has a vapor deposited layer of 99.5% pure aluminum. The metallization layer is 0.5 micrometer on the external surfaces of the foam cells. The resultant material is very light, can be created in number of densities to facilitate the required airflow, and has excellent shielding characteristics across a wide range of frequencies. Flow/Met can also be used as an EMI shield compressed between two metallized surfaces. In this application, the "sandwiched" layer of foam provides excellent EMI shielding while minimizing weight.
